Sirvard Khanoyan, M.D. - Program Director and DIO

After receiving her undergraduate degree from UCLA, Dr. Sirvard Khanoyan attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. She, then, returned to Glendale to complete her residency training in Family Medicine at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale’s Family Medicine Residency Program. After completing her residency training in 2004, Dr. Khanoyan joined the faculty. She led the clinical and team and the residents with conviction and enthusiasm as the Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center for 12 years prior to taking on the role of Program Director in 2017.

Dr. Khanoyan is fluent in Armenian and speaks some Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and three daughters. She especially values her participation in Medical Mission trips through ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale.

Mary Antossyan, D.O. – Medical Director

Dr. Mary Antossyan was born in Armenia, but has spent most of her life in the community she currently serves: Glendale, CA. After attending California State University Los Angeles for her undergraduate studies, she pursued medical education at Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale, acting as Chief Resident in her third year. She joined the program’s faculty in 2017 as the Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center. She is also the program’s advisor for osteopathic manipulative medicine for residents who choose to offer and implement osteopathy in their patient care.

Dr. Antossyan spends most of her time outside of work with family. She enjoys weekend getaways for wine tasting in the summer and snow in the winter. She enjoys good food, reading insightful books, and staying active with intense cycling.

Charles Peterson, D.O. – Associate Director

Dr. Peterson was born and raised in sunny Southern California. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at CSUSB; then, continued his education for an additional 2 years to complete research in an influenza lab and receive a Master’s degree in Biology. Dr. Peterson attended medical school at Touro University - Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine, near Las Vegas, where he still continues to frequent almost monthly for wining and dining with his medical school friends.

Dr. Peterson completed his family medicine residency training at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale. After graduating, he joined the residency faculty spending a large portion of his time creating an addiction medicine curriculum, while also acting as Director of AHGL’s Chemical Dependency Program.

When he is not wining and dining in Las Vegas, Dr. Peterson enjoys the hikes, beaches, fitness facilities and night life that LA has to offer.

Brian Kan, M.D. – Director of In-Patient Medicine

Dr. Kan joined the Family Medicine Residency Faculty in 2018 as the Director of Inpatient Medicine. He is is dually certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. His undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. His MD degree is from the FUHS/Chicago Medical School. He completed a residency and chief residency at Cedars-Sinai’s Combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics residency training program. After residency, Dr. Kan went on to complete a fellowship in Clinical Decision Making and Medical Computer Science at Tuft’s New England Medical Center. During fellowship training, he received an MS degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Kan has spent most of his career in academic medicine including nearly 20 years at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center & UCLA where he advanced to Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine and Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He was also the Program Director of the Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency training program at Cedars-Sinai for over ten years. Along with overseeing the residency training program’s inpatient service, Dr. Kan teaches the family medicine residents on newborn medicine, primary pediatric care, and challenging pediatric problems seen in outpatient settings.

Jack Yu, M.D. – Clinical Faculty

Dr. Yu was born in Taiwan and grew up in Seattle. After graduating from Stanford University, he attended Boston University for medical school, then completed his Family Medicine Residency training at UCLA. Prior to joining the faculty of ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale’s Family Medicine Residency Program in 1990, he worked in private practice, emergency rooms, Kaiser and group practices.

Dr. Yu has a Master’s Degree in Medical Education and completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at USC. He does OB and is also board certified in Sports Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine. His research interests include Obstetrics in the Asian population and Point of Care ultrasound.

His wife is an administrator for a child evangelism fellowship and has two grown daughters. One is a medical student, soon to be Resident, and the other is a statistician for Disney Studios and Disney+. In his free time, Dr. Yu teaches elementary children at his church, organizes the hospital basketball team, and hosts resident wellness events at his home.

Jolie Cooperman, M.D. – Clinical Faculty

Dr. Cooperman was born and raised in Palos Verdes, California. She graduated from the combined Baccalaureate/MD program at USC and then completed Family Medicine Residency at UCLA. During her residency, she developed a passion for obstetrics and women’s health. Dr. Cooperman helped lead the Women’s Health Track at UCLA and, after graduation, pursued and completed a Maternal Child Health Fellowship training at the University of Rochester.

When not caring for patients, she enjoys hiking, salsa dancing, baking, yoga, and exploring new restaurants.

Araz Melkonian, M.D. – Director of Palliative Care

Dr. Melkonian is a board certified family physician. He completed his residency training at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year. After residency, he continued his post-graduate training in an Internal Medicine/Geriatrics Medicine fellowship at Los Angeles County – University of Southern California (LAC+USC).

Dr. Melkonian joined the AHGL FMRP faculty in July 2020. He is currently practicing the full spectrum of family medicine, focusing primarily on quality of life and functional ability of the elderly population. Besides English, he is fluent in Armenian and Arabic. Dr. Melkonian enjoys participating in medical mission trips with ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health. Outside of work, Dr. Melkonian enjoys spending time with his family and friends, watching movies, exploring new restaurants and outdoor activities in Southern California.

Holli Eaton, Psy.D. – Director of Behavioral Health

Dr. Holli Eaton is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY 19265). She earned Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Family Psychology from Azusa Pacific University (APU). Some of her doctoral-level clinical training includes LAC+USC and the APA-accredited internship at San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health.

She has a private practice in Pasadena where she treats adults and couples. One day per week she provides wellness consultations to lawyers at an international law firm. Before ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health FMRP, she was a professor for 17 years in the doctoral program in clinical psychology at APU. She taught classes, chaired dissertations, conducted research, and oversaw clinical comprehensive exams. She has specialized training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Family Psychology, Health Psychology, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Couples Therapy, and other modalities. She loves to provide the best resources for each individual, couple, and family by taking their unique culture, context and history into account. Dr. Eaton loves camping with her family, gardening, reading, movies, and enjoying the beach.

Narek Asryan, M.D. â€“ Clinical Faculty

Dr. Asryan was born in Armenia and spent the early years of his life there before immigrating to Glendale, CA. He grew up in the beautiful city of Glendale, where he has now returned to practice medicine. As an undergraduate, he attended UC Santa Barbara, located right along the coast in Southern California. He then pursued a Master's Degree in Physiology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. During his time in D.C., he realized he preferred the warmer climate of California, leading him to return to medical school in Sacramento.

Dr. Asryan chose to specialize in family medicine because he found all the subjects he encountered during his medical education fascinating. After completing his residency in Family Medicine at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale, he was thrilled to join the faculty in the summer of 2024.

Currently, Dr. Asryan practices family medicine with a passion for mental health and serving underserved communities. He focuses on all aspects of family medicine, with a particular emphasis on Mental Health Disorders and Management. To further enhance his expertise, he will complete a fellowship in this area from 2024-2025, sponsored by the University of California, Irvine. His goal is to empower his patients to make informed decisions that support both their physical and mental well-being.

Dr. Asryan loves to travel and learn new languages in his free time. He is proficient in both Armenian and Spanish. Understanding the vital role physical health plays in overall well-being, he is a strong advocate for staying active. He enjoys lifting weights, playing sports, and hiking in the Los Angeles area with his friends and family.

Molly Wilkerson, M.D. – Clinical Faculty

Dr. Wilkerson grew up in the beautiful college town of Bloomington, Indiana. She left the snow and humidity of the Midwest to pursue her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Pomona College in Claremont, California. Her education continued at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where she co-founded the Geriatrics Interest Group. After completing her residency in Family Medicine at ÍøÆØÃÅʼþ Health Glendale, she was delighted to join the faculty in the fall of 2022.

In high school, Dr. Wilkerson participated in an immersion program in Spain, which gave her both the ability to speak Spanish and a love of travel. As a lifelong dancer, she appreciates the wide range of dance classes offered around Los Angeles. She also enjoys going to the beach with friends, exploring new restaurants, and listening to podcasts.
