Meagan Herndon, MEd, CCC-SLP

Lead Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-language therapist Meagan Herndon helps patients with communication and swallowing disorders. Supporting people in these skills is meaningful to Meagan because of the vital roles conversation and sharing meals with others play in our social lives.

Meagan earned her master’s degree in speech language pathology at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. She aims to educate patients as well as their family members and caregivers about treatment goals to maximize communication and swallowing outcomes. Meagan believes listening to her patients’ wants and needs is essential for successful therapy.

Meagan and her husband are avid soccer fans and enjoy cheering for the Portland Timbers. They also like hiking and skiing in the mountains and taking trips to the coast with their dog.

Marissa Bonnell, MS, SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Marissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University. She completed her master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Her areas of special focus are swallowing, aphasia, and cognition. Marissa was born and raised in Hawaii, but has come to recognize Oregon as her home.

She enjoys exploring the region by going hiking with her dog, Lucy.

Jessica Chacon, MA, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

As a speech-language pathologist, Jessica Chacon is passionate about helping patients achieve their functional goals. She believes in personalized care for each patient and works to build relationships with each one.

Jessica earned her master’s degree in speech language pathology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. She specializes in swallowing difficulties (called dysphagia), speech, language and cognitive retraining. She works with adults who have a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injuries and head and neck cancer.

A former collegiate soccer player, Jessica still enjoys playing soccer for fun. She also likes water activities, including kayaking and whitewater rafting. She and her husband enjoy traveling and cooking.

Joy Gregorio, MS, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Joy Gregorio says the favorite part of her job as a speech-language pathologist is getting to know her patients. She believes holistic care and collaboration are key to treatment.

She earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her areas of special focus are swallowing, aphasia, cognition and language disorders in people who have experienced traumatic injuries or serious illness.

Gregorio loves reading and gardening. She enjoys volunteering with local organizations.

Lily Orcutt, MS, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Therapist

Speech-language therapist Lily Orcutt received her Master's degree from the University of Oregon where she also received broad education in outpatient, inpatient, and school settings. Lily was then selected to complete my Clinical Fellowship at The NW Clinic for Voice and Swallowing at Oregon Health and Science University, where she obtained specialized clinical training in voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders, as well as head and neck cancer.

While at OHSU, Lily also conducted research evaluating voice and speech outcomes after deep brain stimulation for patients with Parkinson's disease.

Karina Towers, MS, CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

As a speech pathologist, Karina Towers specializes in the assessment and management of swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), especially those with chronic lung conditions and people effected by dementia. Karina earned her master’s degree in speech language pathology from Hunter College, City University of New York in 2009. She has had a wide variety of work experiences that include skilled nursing rehabilitation, school-age pediatrics, long-term acute care and acute care hospitals.

A native of New York City, Karina leads an active lifestyle that includes hiking, backpacking, snowboarding and long road trips. She grew up in a multicultural household, speaks German fluently, and loves traveling across the globe to experience new cultures.

Sarah Winston, MS CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Sara Winston is a highly experienced and compassionate speech-language pathologist with a career spanning 15 years in healthcare, specializing in neurology. Since 2009, she has held the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and she has been a licensed speech-language pathologist in Oregon since 2014.

Sara’s professional journey has been marked by a deep commitment to helping patients with cognitive and communication difficulties, with a particular focus on cognition and swallowing. In her practice, Sara takes a holistic approach, emphasizing the importance of listening to her patients and incorporating their goals into their therapy plans. She believes in meeting patients where they are and respects that their goals may differ from her own, especially when working with adults.

Outside of her professional life, Sara is a creative and active individual who values the arts, philosophy, and social justice. She enjoys writing, reading, cooking, dancing, and exploring the outdoors.
